When will KS2 SATs take place in 2020?
The 2020 KS2 SATs will take place in the week commencing 11th May 2020. The tests took place over four days.
Children in Year 6 (those aged 10-11 or those born between September 2008 and August 2009 inclusive) will take these tests in their normal school classrooms (in the UK). SATs papers will be taken in Maths, Reading and SPaG under formal exam conditions. These papers will be marked externally whilst separate teacher assessments in Writing and Science will be marked by their teachers.
2020 marks another year where selected schools will need to complete a KS2 Science 'sampling' SATs paper. Approximately 9,500 children will be randomly selected (based on 5 children from 1,900 schools). These schools will need to administer the tests within the 2 week period from Monday 8 June 2020. It's important to note that these tests are for sampling purposes only and their results are never fed back to the children nor are they ever published.
2020 will be the fifth year of 'new-style' SATs tests under the new national curriculum.
To help prepare children for the 2020 KS2 SATs, children were able to download the 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016 papers free of charge. Whilst not working to the same curriculum, KS2 SATs Papers from 2015 (and before) are still useful to aid preparation.
